BCOA Home Visit Network

It is strongly recommended that breeders always check a prospective buyer thoroughly.  No Borzoi should be placed in a new home until the prospective family has completed an application form, the breeder or a trusted member of the Borzoi community has performed an in-home visit, and the breeder has checked the references provided by the prospective buyer, including that of the family veterinarian.  Since not all Borzoi are placed close to home, BCOA Rescue has created the following network of volunteers to help all breeders and rescue organizations find the perfect homes for our precious Borzoi. These volunteers have offered to perform an in-home visit in a geographic area which is reasonable for them and when their schedule allows a visit to take place.  Please contact a volunteer in the geographic area in by using the contact information provided.

These volunteers are doing you a favor, helping to ensure that your puppy/dog will end up in a safe, loving environment.  You should always offer to reimburse for gas and travel expense, especially if you are asking the volunteer to travel beyond their immediate locale.  Consider that expense part of the cost of breeding

In the list, volunteers are listed under a state where they have agreed it is possible for them to travel.  Some people live close to the border of a state other than their place of residence.  You should determine how close the prospective buyer lives to the volunteer before making contact.  Since a “reasonable distance” varies from individual to individual, the list does not indicate how far anyone is willing to travel.  The determination of whether any request can be honored must be made between the breeder and the volunteer on a case by case basis.
